Nelbrea is a sprawling frontier fantasy world shaped by history, heroics, and hope. It is a society shaped by the lasting consequences of power. The stories told in Nelbrea range from intimate, character-driven struggles to sweeping conflicts that leave permanent marks on the world and its people. Magic, faith, technology, and tradition exist in uneasy balance, and no victory comes without cost- sometimes a cost that doesn't become apparent until the next generation. Rather than presenting a single heroic path, Nelbrea explores how different cultures and individuals respond to the same forces, sometimes with joy, sometimes with fear, and often with contradiction. It is a world where myths are remembered imperfectly, relics outlive their makers, and the stories are never truly finished.
Built in the spirit of long-running fantasy worlds, role-playing games, and serialized storytelling, Nelbrea is designed to grow and evolve over time. New stories may shift perspective, tone, or genre, but they all contribute to a shared history that continues to deepen with every tale. Humor and hardship exist side by side, and moments of quiet humanity matter just as much as world shaking events. Nelbrea does not ask readers to memorize its rules or lore, but instead it invites them to step into a world that feels lived-in, shaped by ordinary people as much as legendary figures, and to discover meaning as it unfolds. Everyone in Nelbrea has a story to tell, and every reader can find one that calls to them.
Jonah is a fantasy writer whose work centers on character, consequence, and the slow burn of meaning, and power over time. He lives and works in Los Angeles, where he has spent over ten years as a bookseller. He is influenced by world mythology, spaghetti westerns, classic RPG's, and super hero comics. His approach to world-building is to treat it as a living process with no end, only opportunities to answer questions and tie up loose ends.
He strives to write tales that feel human, set in worlds that are decidedly foreign, and as the architect, and co-creator of Nelbrea, pieces of Jonah's humor, ambition, and heart can be found throughout every facet of the Arcane West, in stories about heroes, villains, and the normal folks in between.
When he isn’t writing, he can be found cooking something spicy, or organizing long boxes of comics. Jonah's favorite RPG is Suikoden 2, his favorite super hero is The Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner), and his favorite fantasy books are Fred Saberhagen's Book of Swords series.
Rob approaches storytelling as an act of construction. Preferring to focus on the underlying structures that allow a world to function—history, belief, power, and the quiet rules that shape how characters move through a setting. As a co-creator of Nelbrea, he is deeply invested in cohesion: how stories connect, how consequences persist, and how a world remains legible as it grows.
Rather than treating world-building as ornament or exposition, Rob views it as literary infrastructure. Settings are designed to support stories, not overshadow them, and narrative choices are shaped with an eye toward continuity, escalation, and long-term resonance. The goal is not completeness, but clarity—leaving room for discovery while ensuring the world holds together under scrutiny.
Outside of writing, he’s lazing around with his dog and two cats (Atlas, Newton, Nitro respectively), being bad at the latest metroidvania, or tinkering with tech. Rob’s favorite RPG is Chrono Trigger (how original, right?), his favorite super hero is Spider-Man, and his favorite book is A Planet Called Treason.
